About Us

History of Newcomer Information Centre Online (NIC Online)

In September 2015, the PrepCan program started offering online virtual pre-arrival employment services for government-approved Canadian immigrants. Clients would access the program’s resources while they were still in their home country. In 2017, 1552 clients from over 40 different countries were able to benefit from this program. The PrepCan program ceased operations on December 31st, 2018.

From January 2019, PrepCan became the current Newcomer Information Centre Online (or NIC Online). This new program provides virtual post-arrival settlement and employment orientation, information, and referrals to Permanent Residents or Convention Refugees. NIC Online specifically serves those residing or planning to reside in Ontario. The program receives funding from IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).

Starting from September 23, 2020 the name of the program officially changed to Achēv Newcomer Information Centre Online.
